The Eye Sees :

The Eye Sees opened its doors for the very first time in July 2018 in Arles with a show by young Iran born female artist Samin Ahmadzadeh. Her exhibition coincided with the opening week of Les Rencontres de la photographie held in the art capital of Provence each year for the past 50 years.

The focus of The Eye Sees over the next four years has been to showcase the work of artists from around the world who had never so far exhibited in Arles and who were pushing the boundaries of photography as a medium.

Artists working in other media also found their place at The Eye Sees.

Between 2018 and 2022, we opened 7 shows with artists based in the UK, America, Germany and Switzerland.

In October 2022, we left Arles and became an itinerant gallery, travelling around and scouting venues to present the work of exciting established or emerging artists in France and abroad. Each stop being a ‘PAssAGE’.

The Eye Sees a ouvert ses portes pour la première fois à Arles en Juillet 2018 avec une exposition d’une jeune artiste née en Iran, Samin Ahmadzadeh. L’exposition coïncidait avec la semaine d’ouverture des Rencontres de la photographie qui se déroulent chaque été à Arles depuis 50 ans maintenant .

L’attention de The Eyes Sees s’est principalement portée sur des artistes venant du monde entier qui n’avaient jamais exposé à Arles et dont le travail repousse les limites de la photographie.

Les artistes travaillant dans d’autres domaines ont aussi trouvé leur place à The Eye Sees.

De 2018 à 2022, nous avons proposé 7 expositions avec des artistes venant du Royaume Uni, d’Allemagne, des États Unis et de Suisse.

En octobre 2022, nous avons quitté Arles pour devenir une galerie itinérante recherchant des lieux insolites pour présenter le travail d’artistes passionnants aussi bien confirmés qu’émergents en France et à l’étranger. À chaque arrêt, nous proposons un ‘PAssAGE’.

Entractes, inaugurated by British artist Nicky Hirst in September 2018, was a programme of temporary interventions by international artists using the windows of The Eye Sees.

Each artist created an original work displayed for a period of 7 to 8 weeks each time. Over 4 years, uninterrupted, 25 Entractes graced our windows.

Entractes, inauguré par l’artiste britannique Nicky Hirst en Septembre 2018, était un programme d’interventions temporaires sur les vitrines de The Eye Sees.

Les artistes participants ont proposé une œuvre originale visible, à chaque fois, pendant une période de 7 à 8 semaines. Pendant 4 années, sans aucune interruption, 25 Entractes ont été montrés sur nos vitrines.
